I’m pretty much set on buying a 2018 13' MacBook Pro but I’m still having a hard time deciding how much ram I need or will need. I’ll use the computer mostly for internet browsing, redditing, mail, listening to music and so on. I still want to buy a Pro because I’ll also record music. I’ll mainly record a few guitar and voice tracks. I’d like to be able to add a few « virtual instruments » (don’t know exactly how these work or if I’m referring to the proper thing) like piano or simple drums. That’s a part I have to explore and I want a machine that’ll be able to handle it nicely. Alternative to visio 2019 professional for mac. I think that my projects won’t have more than 10-15 tracks. So nothing really huge. Another first for the 2018 MacBook Pro has to do with memory. More specifically, the 2018 15-inch model is the first Apple laptop able to be configured with more than 16GB of RAM. Is 4GB Enough Memory for Me? If you have basic computing needs where you use email, web browsers, iTunes, iPhoto, iBooks, Word Processing, and Microsoft Office, then 4GB will work for you just fine — especially if your storage is solid-state flash storage like that found in the MacBook Air. I also may use the computer to produce simple YouTube videos, kind of vlog style and talking to the camera. Showing a few documents and talking about it, stuff like that. I think it doesn’t require that much power and that the quad core i5 on the 13' will be enough for my use. So, will I regret only getting 8go of ram? I don’t really care if the video editing is a bit slow, I just want it to work rather smoothly. I could buy 16go but I’d rather keep the money and buy a 1to external ssd. And if I get serious about the music or the video thing, I think when it’s the time, I’ll buy an iMac. Charger For A Macbook ProStill, I don’t want to feel limited on the MacBook while I’ll be exploring and learning those things. Thanks for your help:) • • • • •. Thanks for your input. But considering that I’ll never be a huge video editor, than it will never be something I do daily, I’d still be able to make it work nicely with the 8go of ram. Even in 4k in a few years. What you’re telling me is that with 16go that would work faster and more smoothly, right? I agree that it would be nice, but for the workload I’m talking about, it’s nothing indispensable. Replacement Battery For A Macbook ProIf I get a good deal for 16go, I’ll buy it in a heartbeat. But I don’t wanna spend money on something I don’t need or fully use. I’m not a professional, I just want a toy that works well enough for a few years:) • • • • • • •. If you’ve got a lightweight app or two, there will be very little operational difference between 8 and 16.
